Dr. Alex Cullen, Naturopathic Doctor
Dr. Alex Cullen
About Alex Cullen
Dr. Alex M. Cullen’s journey into medicine began in Vermont, where he developed a passion for improving healthcare and addressing the opioid epidemic. This early motivation led him to pursue an education in wellness and alternative medicine at Northern Vermont University in Johnson, Vermont.
Before entering graduate school, Dr. Cullen spent two years working with children, adolescents, and young adults. He served as a Residential Support Specialist at Laraway Youth and Family Services in Johnson, Vermont, and later as an Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare Specialist at Deschutes Wilderness Therapy in Bend, Oregon. These experiences strengthened his commitment to supporting individuals through holistic and compassionate care.
Dr. Cullen later pursued graduate education at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon, where he earned both a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine (ND) and a Master of Science in Clinical Research (MCR). He remains affiliated with the Helfgott Research Institute at NUNM, where he continues to contribute to clinical research.
As both a clinician and researcher, Dr. Cullen provides an evidence-based approach to naturopathic primary care. His work as a clinical investigator focuses on advancing the field of natural medicine through rigorous research, including the study of quantum biology—the intersection of quantum physics and biological systems—and how it may inform innovative approaches to patient care.
Outside of his professional work, Dr. Cullen enjoys strength and hypertrophy training, mixed martial arts, hiking, cross-country skiing, singing, poetry, tabletop and video gaming, and cooking. Most importantly, he is a devoted father who values spending time with and supporting his family.
