Allison O’Meara, FNP Family Nurse Practitioner
Allison is honored to collaborate with patients to optimize their health.
A graduate of Georgetown University’s Family Nurse Practitioner program, she takes the school’s “cura personalis” philosophy to heart. This philosophy translates to the care of the entire person and their individualized needs. Allison aims to establish relationships with patients based on open-mindedness and understanding. She believes it is crucial to make patients feel comfortable, informed, and empowered. She also wants to help patients navigate the healthcare system and make it as approachable as possible.
During her years as a cardiothoracic intensive care nurse in Philadelphia, New York City, and Los Angeles - she saw firsthand the consequences of common disease processes like cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Although she loved her time in that position and learned a great deal, she has decided to pursue a role in primary care & preventative medicine.
Allison looks forward to working with patients of all ages, meeting them where they are, and developing individualized plans that are achievable and sustainable. While her background is in Western medicine and is rooted in evidence-based practice, she recognizes the need and the importance of integrative care. She is currently studying functional medicine and is excited to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team at Pohala to meet patient’s needs.
Outside of Pohala, you can find Allison doing something outdoors, working on her Spanish, or watching anything sports-related. She loves to hike, camp, backpack, and ski with her fiance and rescue pup, Bubbles. She also enjoys biking around town and discovering new places to enjoy great food and wine.
