Anthroposophic medicine is an extension of conventional medicine with the goal to consciously understand the essence of illness. It is a holistic philosophy conceived by Rudolf Steiner, Ph.D (1861-1925), a scientist, philosopher and spiritual visionary. Anthroposophic therapies include herbs, minerals, and animal extracts either in a tincture or in homeopathic dilutions. Furthermore, art (painting, modeling, movement, music) and color therapy, nutrition, meditation, baths, massage, external applications and counseling are used. Several clinics and hospitals in Europe have integrated these therapies for over 80 years.
Some of you may have heard of biodynamic gardening or Waldorf education. These too stem from this philosophy.
We see Anthroposophic medicine as an umbrella in modern times for all medicine.
We apply the views of human development in relationship to the 7 year cycle or one's biography when we meet a person. We love that in some ways it parallels the ancient teachings of our planet Earth. It honors the echo of the past and embraces the hope of the future for humankind in relationship to the light that each of us carry. It is not meant to replace one's personal spiritual belief only to complement.
We trust the medicines prepared by Anthroposophic pharmacies because of the special attention given to timing and biological rhythms when making these medicines. For example, a plant might be harvested when the sun's influence is optimal, and the dosing schedule may be determined by a specific rhythm. This way we work in concert with those vital connections between the human being and Nature.
Julie Foster has undergone post-graduate training sponsored by the Physician's Association for Anthroposophic Medicine (PAAM), both nationally and internationally.
One does not need to understand it fully or even be able to say the word "Anthroposophy" to benefit from the insights or medicines. Some patients specifically seek Julie Foster out for this type of medicine and others are introduced to it through the use of the natural medicines. Many find this philosophy complements a natural and healthy way of living and caring for our minds, bodies, and souls.
